Dress for Success the Same Everyday
I had to chuckle when a link to this article popped up on my LinkedIn "wall" today. We touched on the very same point during last week's Springboard workshop during our "Image" discussions.

Wishcraft for Goal Setters
At the last Springboard workshop, I shared a little of what I had learned on a Barbara Sher workshop. I attended a 2-day session recently in Frankfurt, for "Scanners". Barbara coined the term to describe people who are interested and passionate about many different things, usually simultaneously. She directed us to reconsider societal expectations that we (scanners) should find our one purpose in life and stick at it. We have many talents and are beholden to bring them into the light and share them. It's a sin if we don't!
The specific reason I wanted to tell the Springboard group about Barbara and what she writes about in Wishcraft and Refuse to Choose, was an exercise for plotting an action plan for implementing a goal: Backward Planning. Start with what you can do tomorrow. She describes the "flow chart" process in part 3 of Wishcraft: chapter 6 goes through the process step-by-step. Go to her website and you can download the whole book, for free!

Meet 12 Badass Scientists
“This picture carries extra power for me because we all look like our real selves,” says Marhaver. “I have this photo hanging behind my desk, so that when people come to my office, I have a posse of 12 PhDs backing me up.” Kristin Marhaver, coral biologist

For Women With Drive
SheQuotes is one of my favourite inspirational, or simply cheer-me-up, websites. Curated by the fabulous Susan Macaulay of Amazing Women Rock, it's a wonderful place to see quotes by women with words worth reading.
This is particularly topical for the current Springboard group, I felt.
"I will never turn down my ambition" - follow the link for more quotes on COURAGE, SUCCESS & CHANGE as well as links to 100+ women who did something about something and A bunch of links to action-related articles - remember that Springboard is all about taking action and living the life you have decided is the one for you, based on your core values and beliefs.

Stop Talking about Babies and Dresses - Focus on the Interesting Stuff!
Further to our conversations about appropriate Guest Speakers for the Computer Science PhD graduate Springboard women, this article seems to reflect some of what your were saying in terms of priorites.

What does the Susan Wojcicki have to say about the future of YouTube?
Pertinent question in comments below the video: "Holy cow! Did he really need to spend the first four minutes of the
interview on children and parenting. When would this ever happen to a
man of her stature?"
Women in the media suffer similar dumming-down
And another of my favourite videos where two actors are interviewed in an unusual way....
